As key credit stakeholder for any Commodity Trade Finance related topics, you will be involved in further evolving the credit function for Commodity Trade Finance related products, incl. development and refinement of best practices, processes, documentation and tool(s).

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, well-organized and structured team player who contributes with his deep understanding of Commodity Trade Finance products, in particular transactional lending, to the development of the credit function and growing CTF portfolio in Sberbank Switzerland. We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated, has good communication and presentation skills and is interested to embrace a fast-paced, ever-changing environment in a growing bank based in Zurich, Switzerland and backed by one of the largest European banks. 

Your responsibilities:


• Support the CTF relationship managers by preparing an independent and comprehensive credit application package which clearly outlines proposed risks, in particular financial and structure risks as well as risks related to operations, counterparties, price       and country risk  

• Ensure a smooth and efficient credit approval process by providing all necessary information for the decision making in a credit write up to relevant risk units in Sberbank Group and/or Sberbank Switzerland and follow up closely on approved credit           decisions

• Participate in credit deal structuring (term sheet discussions and preparation) and negotiation (if required) with clients 

• Present credit assessments/applications in a clear, structured, concise and confident manner and ensure adherence to the defined lending standards and working instructions 

• Ongoing monitoring of financial/commodity markets and regulatory developments, etc. with respect to existing counterparties

• Forward looking management of an assigned credit portfolio (incl. review of management financials, rating reviews etc.) to ensure that the bank has at all times the required credit limits for Commodity Trading houses in place 

• Strong interaction with Business and Risks Units of both Sberbank Switzerland and the Sberbank Group, but potentially also with clients 

• Coach and train less experienced team members in transactions and credit files

• Dynamic team of 7 people covering the credit supply chain from due diligence and structuring of limits to the credit approval 

• Hard working, cross-trained, able to cover each other at all times, closely communicating

• Great team spirit, working as a strong and close team

• Collaborating closely with all teams of the bank and top management of the bank 

• Next to day to day work, the team is involved in various projects for the benefit of the bank

Your profile:


• Excellent knowledge of Commodity Trade Finance products with 3-7 years of commodity lending experience in a front office or risk function 

• An excellent understanding of trade finance instruments combined with experience in legal documentation of bilateral or syndicated (LMA standard) facilities 

• Strong credit analysis skills, both in regards to commodity traders, producers, processors etc.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly provide instructions to others, summarize and articulate issues, and document them in a concise manner 

• Problem-solving and analytical skills to identify appropriate solutions to resolve issues and work effectively with constraints 

• Self-starter with willingness to achieve high quality results/maintain strong attention to detail under pressure

• A reliable, committed and highly motivated team player that drives projects and tasks independently with a hands-on mentality that is willing to accept challenging tasks under demanding and time-critical circumstances

• Swiss / EU passport or valid Swiss work permit (mandatory) as well as fluent in English and if possible Russian, German is a plus
